Fine and restraining order for abusive ex-Interact Recruitment employee
A former employee of Interact Recruitment has been fined £2k after threatening to “smash up” the office and take guns to the premise, Midlands-based Express and Star reports.
Mandeep Malhi reportedly worked for the industrial recruiter for six weeks before he was dismissed in October last year.
He left the company believing he was owed £100 and demanded the money from the company’s managing director, Dawn Clough.
He sent text messages to his former boss, which included threats to “bring a load of Asian lads” to the office, to “smash up” the office and to bring guns to the premises.
Malhi received a warning from police but the abuse began again early this year, including threats to follow Clough after work.
She believed she had been followed, but reported being “able to lose them”.
In sentencing Malhi in the Wolverhampton Magistrates Court last week, Judge Nicholas Cole said: “These were vile, threatening and abusive texts, which left the victim in fear and she feels you abused her trust.”
He fined Malhi £2k and ordered him to pay a £120 victim surcharge and £400 towards costs.
A restraining order was also made preventing Malhi from contacting his former boss.
Recruiter tried to contact Interact this morning, but there was no answer.
