Honey G’s former boss now thinks she can win

The “rhino hide” all successful recruiters need to develop is holding rapping recruiter Honey G in good stead as she suffers boos and criticism on social media in this year’s TV reality show The X Factor, according to the recruiter responsible for giving the rapper her first job in recruitment a decade ago.

Speaking to Recruiter this morning, Lloyd Moore, who recruited Honey G, the alter ego of Anna Georgette Gilford, when working at InterQuest, also said he has had a change of heart and now thinks Gilford can win the show.

Gilford worked for IT recruiter InterQuest between 2005 and 2006. Last month Moore told Recruiter he thought Gilford had managed to get further in this year’s X Factor than anyone had thought, but he did not think she could win the show.

“Can she win it? Why not! She has become the ultimate Marmite contestant,” Moore said.

On the subject of Gilford being booed by some sections of the X Factor crowd and suffering criticism on social media as more perceived talented singers leave the competition, Moore said: “These X Factor aficionados hate her because she doesn’t fit into their pigeonhole of what a light entertainment singer should sound like.

“Any successful recruiter will tell you one of the most important things that you need to do when you enter the industry is grow yourself some rhino hide because you are going to get a lot of rejection…

“Any good recruiter is going to be thick skinned and they are going to be resilient, and Anna is probably demonstrating that.”
