While showing resourcefulness and an ability to take opportunities as they present themselves, stealing your prospective new boss's wallet is probably not the best way of landing a new role.

The Japan Times reports Shogo Takeda, a resident of Yokohama, admitted stealing a company president's wallet during a job interview earlier this month.

“I wanted to work for that company, but since I haven't got a job I needed money,” Shogo Takeda said in owning up to the charges, according to the police.

Takeda is suspected of stealing the wallet containing ¥50k (£362) in cash from the president's bag during the interview at an elevator maintenance company in Seya Ward, Yokohama, on 10 November.

The paper adds Takeda did not contact the company to learn about the results of the interview - well, you wouldn't would you?
