Candidates admit TV shows steered their career choices
10 February 2017
Have you come across a candidate who has told you they became a doctor due to David Banner from The Incredible Hulk or a cop because of Cagney & Lacey?
Well, new research from law firm Fletchers Solicitors proves these candidates are not as rare as you may think.
The research reveals while 18% of 1,000 UK adults surveyed admitted their career choice was based on TV role models, this figure climbs to 39% when just looking at the 18-24-year-old age bracket.
The top 10 most common jobs on the TV from the 1970s-2000s are:
- Lawyer
- Police/detective
- Comedian
- Doctor
- Journalist
- Teacher
- Cook/caterer
- Scientist
- Soldier
- Musician/pop star
