Moving Ahead matches Paralympians with Allianz business mentors

Diversity and development expert Moving Ahead has held its first event assigning British Paralympic Association (BPA) employees with top tier corporate mentors from Allianz Insurance as part of a new 12-month scheme.
The Moving Ahead scheme is designed to give Allianz Insurance and BPA colleagues the opportunity to learn from working with a diverse group of people, with different backgrounds and experiences. It aims to maximise the existing commercial partnership between the BPA and Allianz Insurance, offering opportunities to develop mentoring skills at both organisations through workshops and events, with mentoring experts at Moving Ahead.
A group of 30 mentors and mentees met for the first time at an event last Wednesday [29 November], where they heard from Paralympic gold medallist Megan Giglia MBE (pictured above).
Giglia was a multi-sport coach before she had an acute brain haemorrhage/stroke in 2013 causing paralysis to the right side of her body. But just three years later, after undergoing an intensive rehabilitation and training programme, she represented ParalympicsGB in the velodrome at Rio 2016, winning gold medal in the individual pursuit at the Rio Paralympics. Giglia was also a double gold medallist at the UCI Paracycling Track World Championships in 2016.
