Investing in Talent Awards helped secure new business, says previous winner

Winning the Most Inspiring Support Professional in last year’s Investing Talent Awards gave Glenn Southam the confidence to strike out on his own.
With the deadline for entries on 7 August fast approaching for Recruiter’s Investing in Talent Awards 2018, Recruiter spoke to one of last year’s winners for reflections on their award win.
Southam, who won the award when he was head of marketing operations at Staffgroup, has since gone to set up TwoEnds – his own recruitment marketing firm.
He told Recruiter winning the award helped him secure new business with his previous employer: “Positioning marketing central to recruitment processes was a core theme in the sales process, and being able to shout about past achievements was key to gaining credibility with businesses across Europe.”
There is little differentiation in the recruitment industry, so if you want to stand out then entering is something you should certainly consider
Southam adds industry recognition gained since winning the award played a big part in convincing him he knew what he was doing.
“Although it's still early days, we've worked with several businesses and almost all of them have referenced the award, which is firstly humbling but also highlights the role winning an Investing in Talent award can play in growing a successful business.”
Southam hailed the Awards as one of the few that that genuinely recognises individual achievements and the value-add to clients and candidates.
“There is little differentiation in the recruitment industry, so if you want to stand out then entering is something you should certainly consider,” he added.
Recruiter’s Investing in Talent Awards 2018 takes place on 31 October 2018 from 18.30 at the Brewery, London – and there's still time to enter by the final deadline of 7 August 2018.
