Lidl’s Leeds site to create 500 jobs
18 September 2018

Retailer Lidl has announced plans to create 500 jobs at a new warehouse near Leeds.
The BBC reports the German supermarket chain has bought a 38-acre site in Gildersome, a village to the South-West of Leeds, to use as a regional distribution centre. The plans for the site are part of a £1.45bn expansion scheme, which also includes building and opening new warehouses in Doncaster, Bolton, Peterborough and Luton.
The retailer said the proposals “could lead to as many as 500 new jobs once operational” at the Gildersome warehouse, estimated to be 60,000sq m in size.
