M&S and American Airlines on the recruitment trail

Companies in the UK and over in the US are on the lookout for new recruits.

UK retailer Marks & Spencer is creating 150 new jobs in the Midlands, while a US airline is hiring for more than 400 new roles in Oklahoma.

Marks & Spencer is recruiting for workers at its distribution centre in Stoke, according to Birmingham Live.

Launched ahead of the Christmas rush, an M&S spokesman told StokeonTrentLive that the distribution centre was “recruiting a number of seasonal colleagues and later on in the year we’ll start Christmas recruitment for our local stores”.

Meanwhile, across the pond, American Airlines has announced it is expanding the work conducted at its commercial aviation base maintenance facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma, resulting in the need to hire new team members.

Over the next few months, additional maintenance work will be sent to the facility, including scheduled maintenance work on the Boeing 787 fleet. This work will require the skills of more than 400 new Tech Ops team members in various areas to assist with the additional work coming to the base.

The new team members, primarily Federal Aviation Administration-licensed mechanics, will focus on various maintenance areas, including aircraft overhaul, landing gear overhaul for the Boeing 737 and 777 aircraft, CFM56 engine maintenance and Airbus A321 interior modifications.
