Samuel Knight International offers support to beleaguered Teesside workers

A specialist energy and rail recruitment firm has offered support for staff at Tees Renewable Energy Plant in Teesport.
Recruiter Samuel Knight International has stepped in to help members of staff facing potential layoffs and ongoing uncertainty at Tees Renewable Energy Plant.
The move follows claims from workers that 700 people building the plant have been “paid off” prematurely in the last month, reports Teesside Live.
For its part, the company behind the project, MGT Teesside, told Teesside Live it is “committed to the Tees REP construction project” and wants to complete “as quickly as possible”.
Mark Cummings, energy project director of Samuel Knight, said the development was disappointing for the UK’s energy industry given the hopes the sector had for the project.
“However, in these situations it’s staff who are hit hardest. Given that the resources and skills that are working on this project are in such high demand and short supply across the UK, it’s disheartening to say the least that so many workers are being affected.
“We have extensive experience placing energy engineers and other industry specialists in placements across the North-East and further afield. We urge anyone impacted by this news to get in touch today to discuss how we can help them.”
