Hays Travel plans recruitment drive lift-off

A spike in holiday bookings has sparked a recruitment drive for one travel agency.

As holiday bookings rise in anticipation of the further lifting of restrictions on people travelling abroad, Hays Travel, the UK’s largest high street travel agency has announced plans to recruit experienced travel agents, as well as to relaunch a pre-pandemic drive to take on 700 apprentices.

Irene Hays, chair and joint owner of Hays Travel, which acquired Thomas Cook last year, said: “We will welcome people with the right skills and experience who can do their bit to help our industry recover and help more people get a holiday to look forward to.”

On the revival of the drive to take apprentices, Hays added: “By September there will be lots of school leavers who might be interested in a career in travel and our paid apprenticeships, with a job at the end of them, are a fantastic opportunity.”
