CEO of REC forerunner FRES passes away

The former CEO of the Federation of Recruitment and Employment Services (FRES), a forerunner of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation, has died, according to an obituary in The Guardian.

Christine Little began her career in recruitment in 1975 as secretary to the director-general of FRES and became CEO 18 years later. The obituary, written by Little’s friend and former business partner Sue Smith, said she died of multiple myeloma.

FRES and the Institute of Employment Consultants, of which Smith was then CEO, merged in 2000.

Little’s subsequent career included working with Smith in their own consultancy in Hillingdon and a stint as director of Hillingdon Community Trust. Retiring in 2013, the obituary said, she became a parish councillor for the Berkshire village of Frilsham, where she lived, the obituary said.

She is survived by her husband Bryan and daughter Holly, and Little’s brother Arthur.
