Recruiters, time to recognise your work and celebrate your day!

Recruiters – your special day is next week! How will you celebrate International Recruiters Day on Thursday, 8 April?

Launched in 2011, International Recruiters Day aims to recognise the “skills, dedication and professionalism” of recruiters worldwide, according to IRD founder Stephen O’Donnell.

Professional network LinkedIn reports that 1,770,575 individuals in their global database have the term “recruiter” in their job title. “We estimate that there are over 3.5m people working directly in recruitment worldwide,” says O’Donnell. “At #IRD21, we want to recognise the amazing work these people do every day to identify and hire great talent, and to help transition hundreds of millions of employees to their next career step.”

O’Donnell suggests that organisations find a fun way to observe the IRD’s 10th anniversary. “Some might encourage staff to dress as their favourite recruiter from history,” he says.

He also urges recruiters to share their favourite recruitment stories on social media with the hashtag #IRD21.

Recruiter.co.uk will publish some of the best stories the week of 12 April.
