Good jobs news for Yorkshire companies

Permission to begin construction on a Yorkshire development is set to create 8,000 jobs, according to Bdaily business news.

The £150m first phase of Sheffield’s West Bar Scheme was granted this week, which will provide Grade A office accommodation and a public realm, while aiming to support Sheffield’s major housing needs.

The entire £300m development is expected to create between 6,000 and 8,000 jobs in total.

Moving Northwards, a ‘super integrated’ agency expects to create 200 new jobs over the next three years. IMA HOME is a merger of HOME and IMA (formerly Intermarketing) and is based in Leeds. With 11 offices across six countries, the company employs 400 people and expects to recruit for 200 more roles over the next three years as part of its ‘ambitious’ growth plans.

Based in Selby in North Yorkshire, a family-run agricultural business is to create 75 new jobs to support its expansion plans.

Sedamyl, which is based in Selby and manufactures proteins, alcohol, starches and sweeteners, has announced an £80m investment which will see the plant double its potable alcohol capacity and add new lines for the production of liquid sweeteners.

The expansion plans will also see Sedamyl double its UK production, add new product lines and provide an increased market for wheat grown by local farmers. The Italian firm, which started as a fruit distillery in Piedmont in the 1950s, expanded into the UK in 2012 and has since expanded its workforce from 40 people to almost 100.
