BIP UK appoints Darling director TA, learning & development

Consulting firm BIP UK has appointed Matt Darling as its new talent acquisition, learning & development director.

With a recent £3.5m UK-focused investment, the firm said it is accelerating its expansion while placing diversity & inclusion (D&I) at “the forefront” of its hiring approach.

BIP, a certified BCorp company, has 5,500 employees globally.

Darling previously led recruitment across Europe at Accenture before joining TTEC. The vision for BIP is to build a “best-in-class talent function that blends traditional recruitment methods with executive search expertise”.

At the heart of this transformation is a commitment to D&I, BIP UK said. “BIP UK is rethinking its entire talent acquisition process to ensure D&I is embedded at every stage, from attraction and assessment to hiring and retention,” the company said in a statement.

The firm said it recognises that a diverse workforce is essential to driving the company forward. “This principle is shaping the way it identifies and nurtures talent,” the company said.

“Diversity & inclusion isn’t just a priority, for us it’s a non-negotiable,” said Darling. “We are redesigning our hiring experience to ensure we are building a business that truly reflects the diverse world we operate in. From how we advertise roles to the way we assess candidates, we are making meaningful changes that will create lasting impact.”

As part of the BIP NextGen TA Programme, a five-year talent acquisition (TA) roadmap, BIP UK is investing heavily in new platforms and tools aimed at enhancing the candidate experience, and ensuring greater accessibility and inclusivity throughout the hiring journey.

A key element of this roadmap is transitioning much of the firm’s recruitment process in-house, reducing reliance on external outsourcing. To support this move, Darling is expanding the TA team by bringing in specialists to help streamline operations and meet hiring targets.

In addition to structural changes, BIP UK is also addressing the evolving pressures within TA, particularly those brought about by rapid advancements in AI and recruitment technology.

“While these tools present opportunities to improve assessment validity and efficiency, they have also introduced new challenges in balancing automation with a personalised, human-centred hiring experience,” BIP said. “By redesigning its approach, BIP UK is ensuring that technology serves as an enabler rather than a barrier, by connecting with the right talent while maintaining an inclusive and engaging candidate journey.”

BIP UK said TA talent teams must act as both strategic business partners and expert talent hunters. The firm is focused on attracting professionals who are “innovative, forward-thinking and passionate about contributing to a business in high-growth mode”, the company said.

BIP UK operates across multiple industries, including automotive & mobility, energy & utilities, financial services, life sciences, manufacturing, property, public sector, retail and telco.
