• Associated British Ports (ABP) has signed the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) nationwide, reinforcing its commitment to recruiting and supporting armed forces personnel, veterans, reservists and their families. This step secures ABP the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Bronze award and sets the stage for achieving the Silver award across its entire portfolio of ports.
• City & Guilds Foundation has launched the Transition Commission to tackle rising youth unemployment in the UK, committing £500k in funding to address local challenges in areas of deprivation and economic inactivity. With more than 1m young people currently not in education, employment or training (NEET) – the highest level in over a decade – the commission aims to support organisations delivering innovative programmes to re-engage these individuals. The initiative focuses on improving access to further education and addressing workforce skills gaps, ultimately helping UK employers meet hiring needs and boosting economic prosperity.
• SkillTorch, led by founder and former candidate on this year’s BBC programme The Apprentice Melica Moshiri, has finalised a deal with an AI semiconductor Series D company in Austin, Texas in the US. The role was for a technical program manager and the successful candidate will be relocating from Portland, Oregon to Austin, TX.
