Becoming a member of the REC

The REC is the recruitment industry's leading voice.
All UK recruitment businesses in the UK can apply to become members of the REC, provided they meet one of the following two criteria of membership, all members must sign up to the Codes of Professional Practice and take and pass the REC Compliance Test:

Criteria of membership
- They have been trading in the UK for at least one year, OR
- They are owned or operated by one or more individuals, with more than one year of experience working in the recruitment industry
- REC corporate members are required to register with the Information Commissioner's Office.
- All corporate members are required to agree to adhere to the REC’s Code of Professional Practice, which is enforced through our complaints and disciplinary procedure and take and pass the REC Compliance test.
Calculation of fees
Our membership fee is based on your company turnover. A one-off joining fee also applies. Membership is valid for 12 months. You will be required to pay a pro-rata amount to cover until 31 December upon renewal. Subscriptions are then due on 1 January for subsequent years. Membership fees can also be paid by quarterly direct debit.
