The UK economy is improving but is stuttering out of recession, according to the British Chambers of Commerce Q4 2009 Economic Survey.

The results reveal that several key measures are still negative in both the manufacturing and service sectors. In manufacturing, home orders, employment expectations, and investment in plant and machinery remain in negative territory.

The deal was for an enterprise value (the theoretical takeover price) of €782m (£691m), or $13.80 (£8.46) per share.
 
The deal follows the acquisition of Spring Group in the final quarter of 2009.
 

The US is still the largest search market in the world, according to comScore.

The research shows that the US represented the largest individual search market in the world with 22.7bn searches, equivalent to 17% of searches conducted globally.

Agency Workers Regulations, which implement the Agency Workers Directive, have now been published.

The first public view of the regulations have now been uploaded to the Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI) website.

The Regulations confirm that implementation will not begin until after 1 October 2011.  

Outsourcing specialist Sherwood Group has renewed its contract as sole supplier to mechanical and engineering firm L J Monks.

Jeremy Goldberg, managing director of The Sherwood Group, says: “We are thrilled that L J Monks has decided to renew their contract with us.

Most European employers plan to create new roles in 2010, according to a new survey by professional services firm Towers Watson.

The survey, based on responses from 131 mostly large employers across Europe and 459 employers globally, found that 82% of firms plan to recruit for new roles but 45% say recruitment will be below typical levels of previous years.

Provider of outsourced contact centre services Garlands Call Centres has agreed a new six-year contract with NorthgateArinso to provide payroll and HR services to the company’s employee base.
