UK organisations that manage employee performance poorly have an adverse affect on the company’s success, according to research by Covalent Software.

Industry events provide the best networking opportunities for UK headhunters, according to 22% of those polled by Executive search firm InterExec, while 18% rated online as the best method, with a day at a golf course ranked third at 14%.

UK employees want employers to appoint female managers, according to research by global recruiter Randstad.

Randstad’s quarterly Workmonitor report of over 400 UK workers reveals more than a third (36%) think that the performance of their organisation would improve if it had more female senior managers.

In a joint operation with the Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA), West Midlands Police have arrested two men aged 26 and 49, and a heavily pregnant female was also detained.

The arrest was made on suspicion of supplying temporary workers without a valid GLA licence in the agriculture sector. One of the men and the female were also identified as being illegal in the UK.

Hotel chain Travelodge announced plans to create 710 new jobs, investing £223m in 26 new hotels over the next two years, reports The Press Association.
