US-based Instant Technology, a provider of technology staffing solutions, has launched Instant: Executive Search, a new division dedicated to finding the best full-time technology talent ranging from executive to entry-level.

This marks the merger of two Chicago-based technology staffing firms, Instant Technology and LionSearch.

Base salaries in the banking sector are at a four-year high, according to research from recruitment specialist Poolia.

The analysis shows that during 2010, the average salary for a banking employee in the City was 17% higher than in 2009, 25% higher than in 2008, at the height of the credit crunch, and 17% higher than in 2007.

Argyll Scott International, the middle management recruitment brand of the Redgrave Group, has strengthened its team with a number of appointments.

Stephanie Baker and Jeremy Wertheimer join the firm’s C&I (commerce and industry) perm team as consultants.

Encore Personnel Services has seen turnover rise by 62% in 2010 on the previous year, according to its year-end 2010 financial results.

With turnover rising to £22.6m, the firm has also announced the opening of a new office in Birmingham, its 17th divisional location.

Life science interim recruitment specialist PiR Interims has promoted Sally Hope to managing director.

Meanwhile, Carolyn Douthwaite moves into the executive chair role. 

Around 205m of the world’s population were unemployed in 2010, according to figures from the UN.

UN agency the International Labor Organization predicts the figure will drop by less than 1% this year to 203.3m.

RPO provider hyphen has appointed Andrew Porter as account director.

Porter joins from Accenture and will be responsible for hyphen’s Virgin Media account.

At Accenture he was responsible for delivering a range of outsourced HR services to O2.

Technical recruiter and trainer firm Russell Taylor Associates has seen turnover  increase from £2.95m to £9m in 2010, the group has announced.

While net profit rose from £40,000 in 2009 to £245,000 in the year, head count at the firm’s three locations in Bromborough, Chester and Anglesey also increased from 17 to 36.

Law staffing specialist BCL Legal has strengthened its team with two new appointments.

Consultant Tom Fleet joins to place solicitors and company secretaries in businesses across Yorkshire and the North-East.
