Marketing and creative recruiter 2nd City Resourcing has launched a new events division.

2nd City Events is headed by Kelly Peachy, who is joining the firm having worked in events marketing both for agencies and in-house.

Kathryn Gallan, managing director at 2nd City Resourcing, told Recruiter: “2nd City Events will be an extension of our current marketing and communication recruitment services and will support the growing field marketing and events industry with staffing needs as well as full service events support.”

Gallan also heads up the recently formed Recruitment and Employment Confederation Marketing, Media & Creative committee.

She adds: “The purpose of the committee is to raise standards across the industry and promote Best Practice.  A new logo will be launched imminently.”

Gallan says the sector is holding up through the recession and adds: “Communications vacancies have not been hit as hard as would be expected in the recession. The reason could be that employers are now realising how important PR/communications are to the bottom line.”
