Quick service restaurant chain KFC has been flooded with job applications to its new online hiring management system, receiving more than 95,000 applications in the first eight months of this year.
The numbers are in addition to conventional, hard copy applications KFC also receives.
The online hiring system enables KFC to select the best candidates for jobs at all levels, from team members to restaurant managers and head office positions. The system includes an online team member assessment, which saves store managers time as they only review the applicants who have scored highly; this year the system screened out 73% of those who applied, leaving the 25,650 best candidates for managers to choose from.
Dan Hayward, KFC’s head of recruitment, said: “We’re more interested in ensuring we get the best talent from the pool available. By providing online competency tests and helping managers focus on the most promising applicants, the system helps KFC find the cream of the crop.”
