Mixed fortunes for Sun jobsite users

Despite Severn Recruitment Solutions making the first job placement using The Sun’s new jobsite recruiters have had mixed fortunes using the site.
Carl Gibson, director at Severn Recruitment Solutions, which supplies warehousing staff to supermarket chain Asda, told Recruiter: “We were the first to put someone back to work using the site. We have had millions of calls. We placed 15 people in Asda just from using it yesterday.”
But not all recruiters have been as lucky. Pat Deeley, director at sales & marketing recruiter Elementary Resources, says: “We have not found it to be particularly useful. We have had maybe two CVs. It is not targeted at the people we are looking for. We are still giving it a chance. It just needs one person to apply that’s right.
“If I was paying for it, I would not be terribly interested. It is an opportunity to get out to a wider audience. It’s a branding exercise for us. Whether or not it is the target market for us, I am not entirely sure.”
Ian Weekes, group recruitment manager at multi-sector recruiter Red Squid Recruitment, adds: “We tried this new site, because it is a national site, to get more exposure. We recruit in the IT and telecoms sector, engineering, finance and medical sectors right up to senior managers and business directors.
“We are trying to see if we can get a bigger audience. We have not made any placements from it. We had a couple of hundred jobs and had about four replies. If I was comparing it to another job board, I wouldn’t pay for the site.”
