Network Group’s ‘difficult market conditions’
Network Group Holdings made a loss in the six months to 31 May 2009, as the company was hit by “extremely difficult market conditions”.
The company recorded a loss of £905,000 after tax, compared to a profit of £1.281m in the same period in 2008.
Revenue declined to £26.393m from £29.185m in 2008.
Revenue from public sector recruitment increased, however, this was more than offset by declines in professional and technical recruitment, and in the company’s RPO (recruitment process outsourcing) business.
David Waller, Network Group’s chairman, says: “The first half of the year has seen extremely difficult market conditions and following the activity of last year, with the purchase and subsequent disposal of Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG), the focus for this year has been very much to guide the group through these challenging economic times. This will continue to be the focus for the remainder of the year.”
