Recruiters soldier on despite Royal Mail strike

Strike action by Royal Mail workers has prompted fears that businesses would grind to a halt but Britain’s recruitment firms soldier on.

Strike action by Royal Mail workers has prompted fears that businesses would grind to a halt but Britain’s recruitment firms soldier on.

The mail system is expected to be hit this week when hundreds of Royal Mail drivers stop work.

Leah Clifford, consultant at commercial recruiter Top Type Personnel, told Recruiter: “My immediate response is that I think there are plenty of alternatives. There may be cost implications but there is no excuse to not get a parcel to somebody. With mail shots, you have got internet and email marketing.”

Chris Logue, director at Eden Scott, says: “We have not had anyone comment that they are having any issues. It is not affecting our business in any way.

Luc Fountain, managing director at Liberty Resourcing, adds: “We are not really affected. In the last major postal strike, we used to post CVs and that meant we all bought fax machines.

“Most clients send faxes or emails, so it has not affected us.”
