Recruitment “one of the best industries for women” says Healthcare Locums’ Bleasdale
“There’s no pre-conceived idea about who can be a good recruitment consultant and who can’t.
“There’s no pre-conceived idea about who can be a good recruitment consultant and who can’t. It’s all about delivery,” Kate Bleasdale, Healthcare Locum’s founder, and executive vice chairman, told Recruiter.
Bleasdale says the record for women getting to the top also compares favourably with other industries, citing her own company which has three women on its board. However, she says it is also a feature of private recruitment companies. “You don’t find that in many industries,” she adds.
“One of the things about being in the recruitment sector is you can work flexibly. Lots of women go off on maternity leave for three, six or nine months, but in the meantime if they want to work part time or at home there are no barriers to doing so because it is about picking up the phone and talking to people. Half of the HCL workforce is women and half are men - it’s a really good split.”

Kate Bleasdale will be speaking at Recruiter’s Annual Forum in London on 22 April.
