The increasing use of smart phones has created an increasing demand for online marketing personnel as travel firms look for new methods of marketing their services, according to recruiters.

Research from market research firm PhoCusWright shows that 70% of business travellers now use smartphones.

Ian Brooks, director at Gail Kenny Executive Search, told Recruiter: “We have recruited for a number of online marketing roles in the past few months where our client has requested that candidates have experience in mobile marketing.  This is clearly a growing trend and there are candidates out there who have these skills, although more often we are attracting them in from outside the travel industry.”

Karen Skelton, associate at Management Search Executive, adds: “To update travel itineries makes it easier to contract travellers. It does make people more accessible.”
