A sneak peak into the office of 2036

Two-thirds of employees believe that working hours will be far more flexible 25 years in the future than the current status quo, according to a survey conducted by office and secretarial recruiter Office Angels.

When asked what they thought working practices would be like in 2036, just over a half of respondents believed that standard working hours would become a thing of the past, and 71% believed that the number of people working from home would be boosted - with 35% thinking that future working patterns will lead to greater levels of stress.

The survey also finds that workers expect job shares and multiple careers to be “commonplace” by 2036.

David Clubb, managing director of Office Angels says: “Employers need to consider the benefits of flexible working, such as reduced fixed costs, increased goodwill amongst existing staff and the widening of the talent pool from which the organisation can attract candidates.

“We are advising forward-thinking companies to recognise that flexible working is the future and that businesses need to define and implement their strategies now in order to retain and attract the very best talent.”
