Automotive recruiter Southgate Consulting has launched an initiative to help redundant automotive workers back into employment.
The initiative brings redundant automotive workers face-to-face with industry professionals to help their attempts to be re-employed by providing advice on how to create an impactful CV, building a network of contacts, the unadvertised job market, and approaching interviews and assessment centres.
David Southgate, managing director at Southgate Consulting, says: “Many middle and senior managers are struggling to secure their next career move after unexpected redundancy and the impact of the recession on this sector.
“For the recruiter, getting the right people on board is vital. Dealerships are a great example – there could be over 200 retailers selling the same car, with the only difference being the quality of their people. If candidates can’t prove their worth in the first five minutes of an interview they will lose out.
“My aim is that by organising these informal, non-profit networking meetings we can provide a positive and supportive forum for those individuals who are struggling in the current employment climate.”
