The St Patrick day’s party goes on despite the recession, according to hospitality recruiters.

Maggie Walker, managing director at www.hospitalityjobsonline.co.uk, told Recruiter that the downturn has not put the brakes on revelry this year: “There are a number of functions still being put on and I know there are a number of functions quite healthily booked.”

Paula Rogers, managing director at Admiral Recruitment, adds that the day will still be marked but celebrations will be more muted: “I don’t think there has been as much hype this year. Certainly, I think it probably will not be as well attended in the various pubs and restaurants as last year.

“Also it’s on a Tuesday, which has never stopped it before, but I definitely think it will be more subdued. Where we had clients asking for extra staff for special themed days, our clients are still doing it but it is on a lesser scale.”
