The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) sales conference will host a live transatlantic panel discussion at its conference next month.
British recruiters will be able to pick the brains of a panel of leading recruitment industry experts from the US over a live satellite link to San Jose, California, at APSCo’s forthcoming sales conference next month.
The event, sponsored by Giant Group, will be held at the Hilton London Tower Bridge on 7 October and is titled ‘The strong take business from the weak. The smart take business from the strong.’
Emerging trends in the US staffing market are usually replicated in the UK shortly afterwards, according to APSCo, so US staffing industry professionals will be able to give an informed an accurate view as to what to expect on the UK staffing industry landscape in the near future.
Ann Swain (left), chief executive of APSCo, says: “The opportunity to participate in a live, transatlantic panel debate will be a first for the UK recruitment profession. It should be a great opportunity for UK recruiters to learn and benefit from the experiences of their US colleagues who are ahead of the curve on some issues.
“Rather than dwell on any slowdown we thought it would be far more useful to provide delegates with tactics and techniques on winning the near £30bn of business that is out there right now. That means not waiting for an upturn but competing.”
The live satellite panel debate is the highlight of the conference for professional sales managers, directors and consultants. The early part of the day is split into three areas: the management track, the sales track and a CEO roundtable discussion, which will allow delegates to focus on the subjects most relevant to them.
Among the speakers will be James Osborne, a former FTSE 250 chief executive; Derek McAllan, a partner from Big 4 professional services firm KPMG; and Heather White, CEO of Smarter Networking, and an inspirational business coach.
