Recruitment and technology services company Rethink Group and executive recruiter Norman Broadbent have seen growth in the year 2012, while Randstad were in decline in the first three months of 2013.

Recruitment and technology services company Rethink Group and executive recruiter Norman Broadbent have seen growth in the year 2012, while Randstad were in decline in the first three months of 2013.
Norman Broadbent
The recruiter saw revenues increase annually by 10.6% across the group, mainly through the executive search and interim business, which made up £6.7m of its £7.6m total revenues.
Operating profits before restructuring was £293k, down slightly on 2011, with a final loss after tax of £115k recorded – much reduced from last year’s £561k, when restructuring costs were nearly two and a half times higher
The firm’s assessment & leadership consulting and overseas royalties revenues recorded, by marginal levels, a slight decline and rise respectively.
The group recorded £36k revenue from social media search and consulting, the social recruiting business formed in November following an acquisition. Full results can be seen online.
Randstad
Revenues dropped 8% to €3.8bn (£3.2bn) in Q1 versus the same period in 2012, while underlying EBITA [earnings before interest, tax and amortisation] dropped twice as quickly, to €91.5m.
Chief executive officer Ben Noteboom praised the group’s “very effective” cost control, a rise in profitability in HR solutions, professionals and in-house divisions, as well as profitable growth in Brazil, China, India, Japan, North America and Turkey.
UK revenues were marginally down from €198m in Q1 2012 to €180.2m, while EBITA trebled to €2.6m, and growth was led by education, finance, IT and managed services & recruitment process outsourcing (RPO). Full results are available online.
Rethink Group
The firm’s recruitment business represents two-thirds of the company with revenues of £58.7m.
These brands, which include Rethink Recruitment Solutions, Otravida Search and Berkley Recruitment, saw net fee income rise (NFI) from £12.7m to £14.1m over the year. Contractor numbers rose to 894 from 837 last year.
Talent management, representing just under a third of the group, saw NFI up to £4.1m from £2.6m.
The company is currently being headed by interim CEO Steve Wright, after Jon Butterfield stepped down in January. Full results will be made available online.
