Recruitment firm PageGroup is to give research in dementia a boost by funding two PageGroup Research Scholarships as part of a partnership with Alzheimer’s Research UK.

The company intends to raise £200k, which will pay for two three-year PageGroup Research Scholarships. The first scholar, Hannah Clarke, is due to start work at the University of Liverpool in the next few months.

Alzheimer’s Research was decided upon as a charity for Page following a staff vote. Employees of the company will now turn their hand to fundraising through a 200,000 mile challenge, with staff encouraged to cover the distance through a range of events.

According to PageGroup, dementia research is poorly resourced with just one researcher working on the subject for every six studying cancer.
