Mon, 29 Jul 2013Biopharmaceutical firm Alexion and customer relationship management company Salesforce have announced expansions in Dublin, supported by the Irish development agency IDA Ireland, while West Midlands Police and Yorkshire Building Society are also set to hire.

Alexion Pharmaceuticals
The firm is opening a new office and laboratory facility in Dublin and will recruit about 50 employees by the end of the year for positions including logistics, supply chain and quality.

Alexion’s Irish workforce will supply the drug Soliris to patients with two severe and ultra-rare conditions, aHUS and PNH.

Roles are being advertised by Cpl, Alexion’s recruitment partner in Ireland.

More jobs may be on the cards at Alexion, with the company due to supply additional medicines after approval for a series of drug launches in the next few years.

Salesforce
The customer relationship management company will be adding 100 jobs in Dublin and plans to hire qualified professionals in sales, marketing, IT and customer support.

Salesforce has also opened its second premises in Dublin, a 50,000 square foot complex at No 1 Central Park.

This follows a 2012 recruitment drive of the same size, announced 13 months ago.

West Midlands Police
According to ITV News, the force is adding up to 100 staff to its contact department, fielding 101 calls and being the first point of contact for people walking into stations.

West Midlands police and crime commissioner Bob Jones says this allows police officers to serve on the beat with administrative duties in the hands of specialist staff.

Yorkshire Building Society
The building society is to add 100 jobs by the year’s end, having already grown its workforce by 100 in 2013 to date.

This announcement comes in YBS’s half-year results, released last week, which show a slightly decline in pre-tax profits.

The company will also be opening a new Leeds city centre office for existing employees as well as investing significantly in Bradford, Cheltenham and Peterborough bases.
