EY, the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014 and Travelodge are all planning to recruit staff in the coming months.
EY plans to take on 2,400 experienced hires, as it anticipates a stronger than expected recovery in the UK economy.
Announcing its plans covering the 12 months ending July 2014, the company says: “Contrary to market expectations EY’s hiring spree suggests that things could be starting to bounce back quicker than expected.”
In addition to the 2,400 experienced hires, EY also plans to offer 1,300 student places. Of these, 700 are for graduates, 500 for undergraduates, and 150 for school leavers.
EY says it is hiring to meet a broad range of needs from its clients, including managing cyber security and the continuing fall-out from the financial crisis.
The Glasgow Commonwealth Games has launched a recruitment drive to fill 800 full-time posts for the 2014 games.
The positions include customer services, safety officers and IT, with some contracts starting immediately and others beginning just before the opening ceremony.
Jan Scott, head of HR with Glasgow 2014, told BBC Radio's Good Morning Scotland's programme: “We hope that the experience of working with us will really enhance their CVs for their future employment."
About 500 people have already started work on the Games. The recruitment campaign is being led by Search Consultancy, the official recruitment consultancy to the 2014 games.
Elsewhere, budget hotel company Travelodge has launched a recruitment drive for 150.
The company says that 110 of the new roles will be as a result of five new hotels it plans to open by the end of the year in Manchester, Southport, Crawley, London Walthamstow and Chertsey.
The company is hiring for a range of roles, including receptionist, housekeeper, cleaner and bar/café roles. It is also looking for 20 hotel managers. The remaining 20 positions will be at its head office in Thame, Oxfordshire.
