Jobseekers advised to target different London boroughs depending on sector

Jobseekers looking for jobs in culture, media and sport are more likely to be successful in certain boroughs of London, according to online jobs site CareerBuilder UK.

Its analysis showed that since 2011 Hounslow had experienced the biggest growth in culture, media and sports jobs, with a 37% increase. Jobs in these areas increased by 28% in Ealing, 20% in Merton and 16% in Hackney. By contrast, such jobs fell by 9% in Lewisham.
A further breakdown in the figures showed that: sports and fitness jobs increased by 30% in Enfield and fell by 42% in Lewisham; design jobs grew by 28% in Haringey and fell by 29% in Sutton; and artistic, literary and media jobs grew by 47% in Hounslow and fell by 23% in Greenwich.
In a statement, Sanja Licina, senior director of workforce analytics at CareerBuilder, said: “Our analysis supports the notion that certain areas of London are seeing a healthy growth in jobs. For jobseekers wanting careers in culture, knowing the right areas to target their searches can be very helpful in landing their dream position.”
