Up to 1,800 jobs and 200 new businesses will be created as part of a year-long programme to promote Irish design.

Minister for jobs, enterprise and innovation Richard Bruton and minister for business and employment Ged Nash launched the programme, ID2015 (Irish Design 2015), yesterday [8 December].

The creation of the 1,800 jobs is expected to occur over three years through sales of design-led products and services.

ID2015 is also expected to create €10m (£7.9m) in design-based exports and generate 200 new design-led business start-ups.
