Indonesia: Recruitment agencies top best ways to find staff
Recruitment agencies are now the most effective way for organisations in Indonesia to find new employees, according to research from Monroe Consulting Group.
On a scale of 0 to 5, recruitment agencies and executive search firms (4.58) ranked as the most effective means for employers recruiting new employees, according to the executive recruitment agency’s survey of directors and HR professionals at 50 multinational and national companies operating in Indonesia.
They emerged on top ahead of employee referrals (3.77), internet advertising (3.60) and social media (3.21).
This shows a rise in the fortunes of agencies, as the firm’s 2014 survey placed them as the third most effective method for finding new staff.
Alongside the employer survey, the firm also conducted a candidate survey of 500 jobseekers who were managers on a monthly salary of more than US$1,500 (£957.70).
The survey found that significant salary increases enjoyed by senior employees from their current employers in 2013 had slowed in 2014, with 14% of Indonesian professionals not receiving a pay rise, compared to less than 1% the previous year. The percentage of employees who had received pay hikes of between 11% and 15% from their current employers fell to just 17%, compared to 36% in 2013.
Although 31% of respondents had received promotions within the previous year, percentage pay rises received with promotions were comparatively low. Of the respondents who did receive promotions in the past 12 months, 70% reported salary increases below 20%, with the highest number of respondents receiving increases of between 6% and 10%.
