Sepp Blatter: My part in his downfall by Tony Goodwin
Could Tony Goodwin (right), chief executive and chairman of recruitment specialist Antal International, have played a small part in the demise of Sepp Blatter, the much-maligned president of FIFA?
Blatter announced last week that he would resign following a torrid week for football’s world governing body.
Here is the evidence: Blatter’s announcement came days after Goodwin, well-known recruitment entrepreneur and philanthropist, launched a social media campaign Love Football Loathe FIFA #LFLFlovefootball.
Is there a connection, we asked?
Goodwin tells Recruiter that he launched the campaign to put pressure on Blatter and the FIFA’s executive committee to resign, describing the situation there as “a pure shambles”.
“People are saying how powerful I am,” he says. “I set it up one day, and the next day he is gone.” It seems unlikely that Goodwin will receive a call from Blatter about his next career move any time soon.
