FINANCIALS: Robert Walters shows steady growth, but not ‘boom territory’
Growth in professional services recruitment is happening across the UK regardless of region or role, though the sector is not in boom territory yet, according to Robert Walters.
The professional services staffing specialist’s Q2 2015 results, published this morning, reveals UK group net fee income (NFI) increased 19% from £20.1m in the three months from March to June 2015, up from £16.9m in Q2 2014.
Commenting on the results, chief executive Robert Walters told Recruiter growth was being recorded right across the UK and in a number of sectors: “There is good regional growth coming out of our offices in Manchester and Birmingham and so on.”
The group’s City Jobs Index, which tracks the number of jobs available and candidates seeking jobs in the City of London month-by-month, shows that in June there were 9,255 job opportunities available, up 1% from June 2014.
“Most pleasing is a lot of the job growth is across the board,” Walters added. “It is not just a small area like IT or social media; it is everything from a pharmaceutical management accountant through to a risk manager at a bank.”
But Walters says he didn’t think recruitment across professional services had reached “boom territory” yet.
“It is only just beginning. We haven’t seen wage inflation for the last four or five years in the professional sector. We are beginning to see signs of that but it is all the early stages really.”
Further afield across the group, NFI was £60m over the quarter, up from £53.9m in Q2 2014 with growth recorded across all territories.
Meanwhile the group recently appointed Anthony Pierce as director. He joins from professional staffing specialist Hudson where he was head of sales, marketing & communications and supply chain & procurement.
