New role doesn’t stop starters continuing the job hunt
Two in three new starters look for their next role within three months of joining a firm, according to research from global jobs search engine Indeed.
Indeed’s ‘Talent Attraction Study’, published this week, also shows half of those earning £60k-£70k start researching the job market within just 28 days of joining – below the average UK probation period.
According to the research, 68% of those surveyed believe it is important for them to be aware of jobs currently on the market, regardless of whether they are employed or not. The report also reveals that 63% actively search for jobs at least monthly, while 16% search daily for new jobs. Many keep a constant eye on job opportunities, with almost half (48%) of UK adults subscribing to regular job alerts.
With regards to their reasons for looking for another role, 25% cited dissatisfaction with their current job as the most common reason for considering a job change, 19% feel discouraged or insecure in their current job situation and 14% cite a failure to receive recognition for a specific accomplishment at work.
The study also showed 70% of those surveyed feel more confident that a job is the right fit for them if they pick it themselves.
An Indeed spokesperson told Recruiter in a statement the data proves it is “crucial” recruiters take note of would-be candidates’ key priorities when searching for a new job, to ensure they are offering them roles that are the right fit for them.
