Recruiter Show: More video recruiting as selfie generation enters workplace
As the ‘selfie generation’ enters the workforce, use of video recruitment will grow, according to Gregory Allen (right).
The global head of resourcing at technical and business services organisation Lloyds Register was speaking on the first day of the Recruiter Show at the Barbican Centre in London this week.
Allen said he has experienced pushback against the use of video recruitment both in his current role and when he was at communications and IT firm Nokia. However, he added its use was bound to increase as recruiters try to connect with the “selfie generation”.
And Allen, whose father labelled him a ‘dementor’ (from the Harry Potter books) when he meant disruptor, urged delegates to constantly challenge current recruitment processes and evaluate their future fitness for purpose in order to keep up-to-date.
"It is not whether it is fit for purpose now," he said. "The question is how long left have we got for what is in place now and how long it will still be fit for purpose."
