New Zealand GP inundated with ‘trash’ applications for £190k job
A New Zealand GP, who advertised a junior doctor’s position on a salary of £190k, says he has been inundated with ‘trash applications’.
Dr Alan Kenny, from Tokoroa on New Zealand’s North Island, has told the media he has been overwhelmed by the response, which has included taking telephone calls from as far afield as Central America, Ukraine and India.
According to Kenny, 99% of the applications “were trash” with “dozens and dozens” of candidates not even practising medicine. However, he says he has received applications from a couple of candidates with “rigorous qualifications” who he is considering.
In addition to the generous salary, the successful applicant will be entitled to three months’ annual leave, and will not be expected to carry out night or weekend work. Dr Kenny has been looking for a junior doctor for two years.
Healthcare recruiters: have you offered up one of your candidates for this role yet? If not, form an ‘orderly’ queue…
