REC changes leadership structure with ‘new generation of leadership’

The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) has this week announced changes to its leadership structure, creating what CEO Neil Carberry is calling a “new generation of REC leadership”.

Kate Shoesmith, who previously led the REC’s marketing, sales and customer contact teams, has been appointed deputy CEO. She joined the REC in 2013 having previously been head of policy at City & Guilds.

Richard Charnock has been appointed chief operating officer after 11 years at the REC. Before joining the REC, he was a front-line recruiter and business owner. His most recent role at the REC was director of operations.

In addition, the following five appointments have also been made, the REC said:

  • Adam Bolton will take on the role of director of sales
  • Shazia Ejaz becomes director of campaigns
  • Christian Fowles-Smith becomes director of customer services
  • Lorraine Laryea becomes director of recruitment standards
  • Alasdair Reynolds becomes director of marketing.

David Vallance remains as director of finance and company secretary.

In a statement, Carberry said: “This new generation of REC leadership shares a vision of delivering market-leading business support, advocacy and compliance advice to recruitment businesses. With more new members joining the REC every year, I am excited to work with this new senior team to deliver for our fantastic industry.”
