Eardley joins The IN Group to drive growth in the recruitment market

Global talent solutions provider The IN Group (TIG) has appointed Richard Eardley CEO of Investigo, InX and Definia.

Joining from nearly 18 years at recruitment firm Hays, Eardley brings 35 years’ industry expertise to the role, with a career spanning from rebuilding businesses post-global financial crisis, to driving cultural change in Asia.

Eardley takes over as CEO from Derek Mackenzie, who has left TIG to follow other pursuits. “There are no structural changes across InX and Definia and we’re poised for growth in 2025 with Richard at the helm,” said an Investigo spokesperson.

Investigo has ambitious plans for the year ahead, according to a company statement, focusing on core sectors such as technology, finance and professional services, and has significant growth opportunities in both public and private sectors.

Eardley said: “I am truly honoured to step into the role of CEO at Investigo, InX and Definia. I’ve seen first-hand the transformational impact that great people and purposeful leadership can have on businesses, careers and lives. Looking ahead, we plan to unlock the power of people by expanding our geographic footprint, innovating how we serve our clients, and fostering an inclusive, purpose-driven culture where everyone can thrive. This is an exciting new chapter for Investigo, and I’m incredibly excited to lead this as we continue to grow and make a lasting impact.”

As part of Investigo’s growth plan, Eardley will be tasked with bringing specialist recruitment services to new geographies and in new markets, developing new ways to serve customers and navigate market challenges.

Nick Baxter, CEO of TIG, adds: “Richard’s appointment represents a clear signal of our ambition and the investment we are willing to make in evolving our business. For over 20 years, our focus has been on adapting to meet the needs of our customers, the market, and our people.

We don’t pretend to have all the answers, which is why Richard’s experience is so valuable. He brings expertise we don’t yet have and a proven track record of managing large, complex businesses. His leadership will help us continue moving forward and ensure we remain at the forefront of innovation and growth.”

The IN Group is made up of specialist talent brands Investigo, InX, Definia, Caraffi, Sigma Labs and BioTalent across the UK, Europe and North America.
