The Apprentice Round-up: Team Ascendency takes a pizza the action

Is the recruitment industry’s representative in the BBC’s The Apprentice still in with a fighting chance?

Episode 4 of the reality show ‘Crops to Cash’, leading to a potential £250k investment and partnership from businessman Lord Sugar, saw the remaining candidates earn as much as possible from two crops on offer – tomatoes and potatoes.

AI tech recruitment firm owner Melica Moshiri found herself under the leadership of Mia, with whom she clashed last week, as part of Team Ascendency. They were given half a ton of tomatoes to make something ‘delicious’ to sell to the public and negotiate a deal with a supplier for the rest.

Apart from an over-ambitious deal struck with Italian food restaurant chain Zizzi’s, Our Melica’s team decided to make pizzas to sell at Greenwich Market in London. At £10 for one smallish-looking pizza with 1 (one) meatball topping per pizza, Melica was accused of intimidating potential customers by yelling at them to come over and buy some of their – quite frankly – dodgy looking pizzas. However, she ploughed on, even suggesting to a vegan customer that if they couldn’t eat it, then maybe they could buy one for their dog!

It all worked out fine in the end, as Team Ascendency hit the heights and won the challenge – which against the team led by Nadia wasn’t too much of an issue.

So it’s on to the next episode where we’ll hopefully see Melica take another winning slice of the action.
