As the number of swine flu cases continues to rise, a locum recruiter is calling for greater guidance from health organisations on the insurance position of sessional GPs.

Commercial recruiter Crone Corkill has appointed Lee Dempster as operations director.

Dempster has 16 years of experience in recruitment and was previously director of London commerce and global opportunities at Michael Page.

Recruitment giant Michael Page is to recoup £26m in overpaid VAT.

A prior claim for overpaid VAT between 1980 and 2004 had been thrown out by HM Revenue & Customs in 2003, but Michael Page submitted an amended £80m claim for the same period in March.

The site, www.smallbusinesschannel.co.uk, contains video-based information on business-related issues including employment law.

New research from the FPB shows that employment law costs small business £2.4bn.
