Two sales recruiters are defying the downturn by setting up a recruitment business in Cardiff, South Wales.

Duncan Powell and his business partner Dale Williams have not been deterred by recruiters going out of business in other parts of the UK and opened Yolk Sales Recruitment on 5 January.

A study of contractors by IT recruiter Parity found contract length was the most important factor for 20% of IT professionals, followed by financial reward at 19% and location at 18%.

Alan Rommel, managing director of Parity Resources, told Recruiter focusing on contract length has not increased the length of time it takes to place contractors. 

The Equal Pay and Flexible Working Bill is to have a second reading at the House of Lords today.

The bill would make it compulsory for equal pay audits to be carried out for employers found guilty of gender pay discrimination as well as requiring publication of the outcome, while extending the right to request flexible working to all parents of children aged 17 or younger.

Niche medical job board Jobs4Medical has launched a new social work  section on its website.

Last week’s cut in interest rates could lead to more hotel openings in the UK, according to hospitality recruiters.

Mark Norris, chief executive at Profile, told Recruiter: “A decrease in interest rates combined with the weakness of the pound should provide an ideal environment for companies to invest in new facilities, build or buy hotels and expand their interests.
