International executive search companies have ended 2008 positively by announcing completed and new searches.

The French Competition Council is imposing a fine of €34.2m (£30.6m) on global recruitment giant Adecco in connection with an anti-trust case involving the firm, Adia France and their main competitors in France.

In a statement released this morning, Adecco said it is analysing the Council’s decision before deciding whether it will appeal.

Multi-sector recruiter Manpower is to appeal against a decision by the Competition Council in France.

The Competition Council declared that Manpower’s French operating unit had engaged in anti-competitive conduct in violation of French law between March 2003 to November 2004.
