International recruiter Michael Page is currently undertaking a “thorough” investigation into allegations about employees from its Australian arm accused of trashing a ski lodge.

In a widely circulated Facebook message Steph Eisma, who runs Reindeer Ski Club in Mount Buller with her father, alleges the group of 22 Michael Page members of staff were heavily intoxicated, destructive and abusive, adding two men threatened to kick down her door and kick her head in.

Eisma added in her message that she called the police, as did a fellow guest at the resort.

In a statement to media, Michael Page said while the trip was not company funded or sanctioned by the group, Michael Page employees were nonetheless involved in the incident. 

The statement continues by saying Michael Page holds all its employees to the highest level of ethical behaviour, “whether they are officially representing our company or not”, and adds the group is extremely upset about the behaviour of some of its employees and make no excuses for their actions.

“We have been in touch directly with the people who were affected by the behaviour of the individuals involved, and offered our unreserved apologies. We are very disturbed by the allegations made.

“We are undertaking a thorough investigation into the matter and will make sure that all the individuals involved are interviewed and the appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. Michael Page has an extremely strict code of conduct for employees and we are extremely disappointed in the behaviour of the individuals involved in this incident. We are taking this extremely seriously and will do everything that we can to protect our company’s reputation.”

The statement concluded the company would be making no further comment.
