Want a new career? Change the channel for inspiration

Are you coming across younger candidates who increasingly list the likes of James White, Levi Roots or Dani Dyer as their biggest inspiration at interview?

If so, new research reed.co.uk could shed light on the reasons why.

The recruitment giant’s poll of 1,000 UK jobseekers found one in four 18-34-year-olds admitted TV has influenced their career, with The Apprentice emerging as the number one TV programme to influence careers.

Lord Sugar’s show was followed by Dragons’ Den, which came in second, with crime dramas CSI and Law & Order the third most influential in shaping the career choices of millennials.

Receiving more applications this year than Oxford and Cambridge Universities combined, Love Island has been responsible for inspiring careers in fitness and sales due to onscreen gym and charismatic pen salesman Jack Fincham.
